Both states require 12 hours of CE (Continuing Education) every two years. Use the checklist to help you keep track. See link at the bottom of this page.
What have you already taken?
Check that file folder in your desk where you saved your course completion certificates! Also, this KCRAR website shows the hours you have accrued from attending KCRAR classes. After you have logged on, click on the option for Education History. Caution: We do not know about hours attended at any other school.
You can go to the Kansas Real Estate Commission at www.kansas.gov/krec for a complete record under “Check CEU Hours” but Missouri does not post any of your hours online.
Specifically for Missouri renewal:
Everyone, regardless of license issue date, renews in even numbered years. You need 12 hours of CE dated after 10/1/08. Whether broker or salesperson, you must have the 3-hour Missouri required course titled "Representation Options in the State of Missouri" and nine hours of elective classes. Brokers renew in June 2010 and Salespersons renew in September 2010. The MREC website does not post your attendance. Their phone is (573) 751-2628.
Specifically for Kansas renewal:
Everyone renews at a different time in a two-year period depending on your last initial. When is yours? Scroll down to see our chart below. For the course codes on your certificates, you need a three-hour course starting with M (Salesperson and Broker Core) and also nine hours of classes starting with the letter E. (Brokers must have three hours starting with M and also three hours starting with MB [Kansas Broker Core], and then six hours starting with E.) On this website, read the course descriptions and you'll see if a class is mandatory (required), or if it is an elective. License expiration dates are staggered over a two-year period. Education and renewal of license are due on the last day of the month immediately preceding the license expiration date. See chart below. Renewals made in the expiration month are assessed $50 extra.
Both states:
If you take all your classes at KCRAR, you can be assured your courses will count for each state simultaneously. Therefore, taking 4 classes of 3 hours each will satisfy both states.
Code of Ethics training:
This is required in the four-year cycle between 12/31/2008 and 12/31/2012. This is a requirement of remaining a REALTOR® and has nothing to do with license renewal. Your “Education History” record at KCRAR.com will show if you have attended this. Make sure your completion date is within the dates of this current cycle. Click here for information about taking the course.
